Howard Finster inspired Self Portraits

Second grade just completed their self portraits inspired by Georgia, folk artist, HOWARD FINSTER! Students wrote personal sentences about themselves that filled their background and their names inside of their shirts! Many students wrote humorous sentences about themselves and some revealed many interesting things! They worked really hard and are very proud of their self portraits! Way to go Second graders!

A big THANK YOU to the second grade team that helped out with the writing process!!!

Third Grade Seascapes

Third graders learned all about Georgia landscape artist, Paul K. Hill. Students were so excited to know they would be painting seascapes using an 18x24" piece of paper! Students reviewed mixing tints and shades, discussed foreground, middleground and background, horizon lines and were inspired by utube videos playing while they worked of actual beach scenes and rolling waves! How peaceful! Our seascapes are hanging up in our school! Enjoy!

Kevin Cole, Georgia artist, inspired Paper Sculptures

First graders were introduced to Georgia artist, Kevin Cole and his art work, inspired by ties. My first graders were so excited about the ties, that I had enough donated so that each student could "WEAR" a tie in the art room while they were creating their "tie" like paper sculptures! The paper sculptures are amazing and hanging all over our building!
