African Kente Cloth Collographs

Second graders were inspired to create kente cloth collographs inspired by
the book, The Spider Weaver, A Legend of Kente Cloth.
Many kente cloths are displayed in the front lobby!

  1. Beautiful!! I love all of the colors, I always made Kente cloths with my students in just red/brown and black but I think yours are much prettier : )

  2. Great lesson idea, and I love how you tied it into a story as well. I find my lessons are more successful when I integrate literature into them!

  3. I love that book! I used it in my music class and we added rhythm with drums and percussion instruments and had a student weave a huge spider web in a big hoop.

I like to correlate things with the art class, and this would be a great idea to do!
